In You We Live

When I started to write this song, I had a picture in mind of a road or pathway on which many people were walking, with others joining in, as they started seeking God.
About this time, some of my whānau had started coming to church for the first time, which made me aware that many of the lyrics in our songs and hymns were in ‘church language’. So, as I tried to put the picture into a song, I choose words to tell the story of the journey to faith.
The song recognises that all people are spiritual and that for generations, people have been seeking and worshipping God.
As we come to worship, we join in that song that has been resounding through the ages.
It picks up on Isaiah 7:14 “Emmanuel” God with us, and an account in Acts 17:22-28 where Paul appeals to the people of Athens with this phrase
“In him we live and move and have our being.”
